I have built projects with both WordPress and Lovable, and the choice between them depends heavily on what you are trying to build.
Lovable is excellent for turning an idea into a working web application quickly. WordPress is my preference for content sites, membership sites, communities and projects where I want the flexibility of the WordPress ecosystem.
Where Lovable shines
The conversational workflow is the biggest advantage. You describe what you want, review what it builds and continue refining the project. For prototypes and custom app ideas, that speed can be extremely useful.
Why I returned to WordPress
I already know WordPress well, can reuse plugins across projects and can choose the hosting and tools that fit each site. That makes it practical for the kind of websites I build most often.
WordPress is also becoming more interesting for AI workflows. WordPress 6.9 introduced the Abilities API, and the official MCP Adapter provides a path for compatible AI tools to work with registered WordPress abilities.

Where each platform fits best
For publishing-heavy websites, memberships and communities, WordPress gives me a strong foundation without rebuilding familiar website features from scratch. For a brand-new app concept, Lovable can get an idea onto the screen remarkably quickly. The better choice depends on whether your priority is rapid prototyping or a flexible WordPress ecosystem you can keep extending.

Which should you use?
I would choose Lovable when rapid app prototyping is the priority. I would choose WordPress when the project centers on publishing, SEO, memberships, community features, plugins or long-term website management.
For me, WordPress now handles most of those projects while Lovable remains a useful option when I want to explore a new app idea quickly.
